Welcome to Researchers 1 – class teacher, Sam Unwin

Researchers 1 typical day involves coming in from buses, making a drink or a little breakfast snack before starting our morning ‘hello’. We share how we are feeling each morning through our Zones of Regulation check in.

In addition to our usual lessons, we have a variety of life skill lessons including travel training , visiting our local allotments, AIM Award lessons and our snack and sensory shop on Friday afternoons where our learners can spend their hard-earned wages.

We are developing knowledge of Computing through learning to touch type and developing coding skills through using our Micro:Bits.

We build in time for sensory regulation and social interaction every day and our learners earn time towards their end of day choosing activities by completing work throughout the day. They even get an extra 5 minutes if they show acts of kindness.

We participate in phonics and assemblies each week and celebrate our different Friday theme days.

At the end of each day we review our day, sharing our favourite parts and the things we are grateful for.
