The Discoverers department supports primary-aged learners, typically between the ages of 3 and 11, across four classes – Discoverers 1, Discoverers 2, Discoverers 3 and Discoverers 4. Our learners have a range of needs, including autism and learning difficulties, and are grouped according to their age, communication style, and individual learning profiles.

Each class has a nurturing staff team consisting of a teacher and at least two teaching assistants, ensuring a high level of adult support. In addition, personal care assistants and healthcare assistants work across the department to help meet individual needs and ensure consistency of care. Learners may move between classes when appropriate, ensuring that each child is placed in the environment that best supports their progress and wellbeing.
Our aim in the Discoverers department is to help every learner understand and engage with the world around them, while developing key life and learning skills. We prioritise communication, social interaction, independence, and emotional regulation, embedding these within a practical, hands-on curriculum that makes learning meaningful and enjoyable.
Through consistent routines, positive relationships, and tailored support, we help our learners discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills they need for the next stage of their journey.
