Governor role

Appointed Governor

Why did you become a governor?

I decided to become a governor when I retired from teaching. As it had been such an important part of my life I missed it and wanted to contribute in a worthwhile way to the community where I began my teaching career. Originally from Buckinghamshire, my first teaching post was in Rainworth. Little did I think I would be back in Nottinghamshire 35 years later, having worked at schools throughout the country and raised three children of my own

How did you find out about the role?

I joined Inspiring Governance.

What do you like about the role, and how do governors make a difference?

I am passionate about education, have had experience in leadership and know how vital the right education is in ensuring children are given the very best start in life. When I established and led a very large early years setting in Surrey, my belief that each child is an individual, entitled to an excellent education designed to meet their needs was strengthened. This is at the heart of everything that Yeoman Park and Redgate offer and so I was delighted to become a governor at these brilliant special schools. I feel really privileged to share in the educational journey of such amazing children and young people
