As the end of term gets even closer and we prepare to close our doors for the summer, the build of Yeoman Park Academy’s new home will continue, and I am excited to return in the autumn term to see what progress has been made.
I know this academic year is our last full year in our current building – it will be sad to say goodbye. In the same breath, I am thrilled about the possibilities this new facility offers, not just for our current learners, but for future generations and the wider community.
A new era for SEND learners
One of the most exhilarating aspects of the new building is the opportunity to enhance the provision for our learners not only within our academy but also across Diverse Academies Trust and the broader community. We are eager to invite more learners to join our school and to establish ourselves as a center of excellence. Our new venue will also host SEN events, providing a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices.
Moreover, the new building allows us to expand our extra-curricular offerings. We are excited to introduce after-school activities, a Saturday Club, and the Yeoman Park Run, which will foster a sense of community and engagement among our students and their families.

Transformative facilities for enhanced learning
While the heart of our school is formed by its people, the new building’s enhanced facilities will significantly improve the educational experience for our learners. The inclusion of a fully functional hydrotherapy pool, sensory spaces, larger classrooms, and new furniture will create an environment that supports every learners’ diverse needs.
For the first time, our main hall will no longer double as a dining room, allowing us to use it for indoor activities during wet weather. Additionally, the school will feature specific wings, enabling each department from primary through to sixth form, to develop their own unique identity, catering more effectively to the needs of our learners.
Preparing for learners’ transition
Transitioning learners from the current building to the new building is a major undertaking, and we are committed to supporting everyone through this process. Fortunately, the construction has been happening on our doorstep, allowing students to witness the building’s progress and feel a part of the journey.
As the move approaches, we are preparing social stories and welcome booklets in collaboration with our marketing colleagues to help students adjust. Staff members are also being given tours to familiarise themselves with the new layout. While change can be challenging, the overall excitement and anticipation within our school community is palpable.
Saying goodbye
As we look forward to the future, there is a touch of nostalgia as we prepare to leave our old building behind. It has served us well, much like a well-worn slipper, full of cherished memories, and milestones. Many of the building’s scars (and hero wounds) will be missed, however, the promise of new adventures and opportunities in our new home makes this transition a truly joyous occasion.
Embracing the future with enthusiasm
The new Yeoman Park Academy building is more than just a physical space; it represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide exceptional education and support for our learners. We are excited about the future and the endless possibilities this new facility will bring. With improved amenities, expanded programs, and a continued commitment to excellence, Yeoman Park Academy is poised to make an even greater impact in the lives of our learners and the community.
Wishing all our learners and their families a warm and restful summer. I look forward to welcoming you back in September, and most of all, welcoming you to our new academy building in spring.
