During June our students have been very busy getting involved in a number of different enrichment activities and working on careers and transition at the academy.
We were delighted to welcome Sam’s Workplace into the academy for a careers event, and they brought us some furry visitors too in the shape of some guinea pigs! Sam’s Workplace offers realistic work experience placements for people with learning disabilities and support development of independence and social skills. Their furry friends are part of their offer which also includes horticulture skills and some small animal care with chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.
Students have also been getting involved in Adventure Service activities at the academy, with a group of upper school students also knocking down pins for fun as they went ten-pin bowling at SuperBowl in Mansfield.
A really great month at Yeoman Park with plenty going on! Thanks to Sam’s Workplace for visiting and working with our students – – many Yeoman Park learners attend after they leave the academy so it was a really useful visit.
